Between Borders and Silence: Reproductive violence, gender inequality and the global struggle for sexual and reproductive health and rights

This paper examines reproductive violence as a global SRHR and gender-equality issue. It explores how violence, coercion and structural barriers can restrict reproductive decision-making at interpersonal, community, institutional and societal levels, with particular attention to evidence from the Middle East and North Africa, including Egypt.

Rather than treating migration, conflict or displacement as isolated causes of vulnerability, this research examines how these conditions interact with gender inequality, economic insecurity, health-system barriers and unequal power to shape women’s reproductive autonomy.

The future is ours to build. Together.

Global Compact on Migration

The GCM is central to MYCP’s activities. We coordinate youth activities and inputs across GCM processes so young people’s voices are heard and taken seriously by decision makers. As the youth constituency for young migrants and youth-led organizations, our GCM approach rests on three core values: inclusivity, unity, and action.
